The Antiquarium at Plaza de Encarnacion was a great surprise. When an underground car park was proposed in 1999, initial excavations found important Roman and Moorish remains. Not only did the local government eschew the notion of a car park following this discovery, they have made the area into an amazing experience, using interactive displays, excellent lighting effects, and clever use of plexiglass for clear walkways and partitioning. There are a number of mosaics, information on the local fish salting trade and lamp making, and lots of other stuff!

In the afternoon we visited the Macarenas area. Enjoyed tapas and a cold beer at Bar Plata, which has been catering for hungry and thirsty Sevillanos since early last century (c.1910). Beautiful azulejos, and olde worlde charm ( as well as the best cheese and ham toastie I've ever had).
